Once Upon a Time...

Happy Royal Wedding Day! Oh Katie, you are one lucky lady! Unlike many people I know I did not wake up at the crack of dawn to watch the festivities live this morning, but my dvr and celebratory glass of champagne are waiting for me when I get home tonight! Until then, just dreaming of being Princess for a day...

The Perfect Pair

Bananas met peanut butter and it was love at first sight. Well, that is how it went down in my kitchen at least, where the two lived happily ever after. This is one of my favorite snacks and the combo is just so amazingly delicious (and healthy to boot!). Served up on toast, rolled in tortillas, simply sliced or the ultimate confectionery treat - banana bread with peanut butter icing! Any way you work it, you really can't go wrong!

Guest Post: a {little} dash of ash

Hello Readers of Ten Scenic Drive!  This is Ashley from a {little} dash of ash -- Last week Kristin's super awesome boyfriend emailed me and told me he was taking her on a surprise vaca and that she will need a guest blogger for Monday!! Yes, not only did he score major points with a surprise trip to Miami, he also remembered her blog!!! :)  But I did hear he forgot to pack her flip flops! haha... at least he remembered the important things!  Lately, I have seen some fun series around the blogger world that I definitely had to partake in!  I will call mine "Wear that Space"!  There are so many times I see an amazing room or backyard or party that I instantly want to create into an outfit.  With all of the fun colors and elements used in home decor today - you can easily translate that into fashion... and vice-versa!  Today, I chose a contemporary bedroom and created an outfit that matches in color and sophistication.  Hope you enjoy!  Check out my blog {here} for more daily inspirations and more on this series to come!

Pillow Talk

I am typically not a major fan of anything monogrammed (except for maybe a personalized Louie from Paris...but that is another story) they are typically a bit too Lily Pulitzer and over the top preppy for my taste, but these little gems from Luxury Monograms? Helloooooo GORGEOUS! Pillows, bags, napkins and place mats in so many patterns and colors from Ikat to stripes to tie-dyed amazingness with pop color embroidery. LOVE!

Guest Post: Afternoon Frosting

I am so happy to have one of my new blogger besties, Julie from Afternoon Frosting, guest posting for me today! Julie is super sassy and her hilarious posts on men, food and fashion have me cracking up every day. Have you frosted yet? Enjoy!

Ode To The Boys
I've never been one to compromise what I love to do, or how I like to dress, especially with regards to the boys I pal around with, or my boyfriends of the past. However, there are a few little activities I'd indulge in, and outfits I'd parade around in, that would let my men know not only was I supportive of their favorite activities, but that I actually enjoyed them, too (feigning interest in what your boyfriend likes to do is okay once in awhile, but he'll catch on soon enough and your cool factor will just fizzle!).

Lingerie: If we're not getting laid, we probably don't think twice about what we pull out of our dresser drawers in the morning. However, anything with a bit of underwire and lace generally do two things: They instill an inner confidence (I just feel better in sex-kitten lingerie) and an inner-something else in our boyfriends, but I'll leave that to your imagination.

Loungewear: Women are normally under the impression that they look their best in full-fledged makeup, stilettos and little black dresses, and they're normally right - they do. However, when the football game is on TV, and your man is slouched on the couch with a beer in his right hand, he wants his left arm around his girlfriend in sweatpants. Hang up the LBD, and opt for a comfortable pair of his favorite team's sweats (Victoria's Secret has a killer MLB collection out right now) and breezy cotton shirt. I, myself, am partial to American Apparel's line of crop tops: sexy... but uber comfortable.

The Eats + Activities: Okay, so I've never personally been one of those girls into watching sporting events on television up until recently, but if you understand the game, it's more enjoyable (tolerable), not to mention, impressive. Break out a few of his (and your!) favorite beers, and don't be afraid to grub up on some fast food. A weekend spent this way might not agree with your springtime cleanse, but hanging up the calorie-counter and sporting a pair of sweats will undoubtedly earn you Coolest Girlfriend of the Year award.

...As if you needed it, but still.

I'm off to...

Supercool vintage wooden sign found on Etsy.

I am jetting off to the east cost today for a fabulous long weekend!
First up Hartford, CT for my bestie Caroline's wedding party luncheon and some quality girl time. Then onto Boston with the bf's fam for some Red Sox'ing (even though I come from a family of die hard Yankee fans), marathon watching/cheering, and of course lots and lots of delicious eating!

Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to check back next Monday & Tuesday for some great guest posts while I'm gone!

Decorate This Space: Dream Kitchen!

I love to cook, love to eat and love having big, family-style dinners! So when Jillian of {cornflake dreams} invited me to be a part of the "Decorate This Space" blog crawl I obviously chose to decorate a kitchen. Growing up, the kitchen in our house was always where the action happened, which I think is why I love spending so much time there! My inspiration for this kitchen came from one of my favorite brunch spots in Columbus, Tasi Cafe. It has a very lofty feel and is the perfect balance of  modern and rustic with exposed brick, cement floors, large wooden tables and brightly colored metal chairs. Tasi also always smells delicious which is a requirement in a dream kitchen of course!

Here are my inspirations for my dream space...

Check out {Aspiring Kennedy} tomorrow for the next stop on the crawl and more great decorating inspiration!

All Over Lace

No longer reserved solely for the boudoir, lace has slowly been making an appearance and is now in full blown take-over mode for Spring from dresses to skirts to tops to accessories. Scalloped edge lace shorts? Yes please! I love the juxtaposition of delicate lace pieces paired with classics such as a chambray shirt or chunky oversized sweater to create the perfect mix of boy/girl tension. An essential on this girl's spring shopping list for sure!

Hey London, I Miss You!

Since I am super jelly of my bf jetting around London and Paris this week, I took a little trip down memory lane last night with my photos from my junior year of college when I studied in London. It was truly one of the most amazing times of my life! From classes at London's finest museums, the Bakerloo line and Walker's crisps to Top Shop, Selfridges and the Portabello Road market, my friends and I shopped, ate, toured, danced and tubed our way all over this fantastic city (and beyond)!

The best part of studying in London was jetting off to a different European city almost every other weekend! (Thank you Ryan Air). Next to London, Paris was our second home and became one of my favorite places. (Probably because I indulged in 2-3 nutella crepes daily...oops!) The cheese, the wine, the uber-fashionable Parisian ladies and the incredible museums! Ahhh! I can't! Take me back there right now!

Artist Crush: Megan Geckler

I first peeped Megan Geckler's designs over at Urban Outfitter's Space 15Twenty and then proceeded to spend  quite some time on her website admiring all of her amazing work! Megan's sweet installations are all constructed using colored flagging tape - its like party decorations met geometry, fell madly in love and had baby. Her work is awesome and I kind of wish I could have it in my house.  The color impact is fierce and incredibly powerful...all just from one simple material!

Sunday Brunch: Pancake Heaven

One of my absolute favorite restaurants for brunch is the Clinton St. Baking Company in NYC. Located on the lower east side, this little gem has the best, most delicious, sweet and savory, food coma-inducing brunch EVER. Just the smell of this place is almost worth the hour long wait. Their pancakes and biscuits are absolutely to die for. Obviously, they have been voted "Best Pancakes in NYC" like a gazillion times and that is seriously no lie.

I literally jumped up and down in Barnes & Noble the other day when I discovered they have released a cook book! Chock full of all of their tasty secrets, this baby is a treasure chest of breakfast gold (and beyond, according to the title). I cannot wait to try them all!
