And the Oscar Goes to...

The Oscar's Red Carpet is one of my favorite fashion events of the year! I was a bit underwhelmed by last night's dresses overall, but there were definitely some WOWs! Gwyneth Paltrow and Mila Kunis have my vote for best dressed...They both looked absolutely stunning! Gwyneth was an absolute bombshell in this liquid metallic sheath by Calvin Klein. Mila Kunis had the perfect balance of sexy and sophisticated in this beautiful Elie Saab lavender lace number. Hair and jewelry on both ladies were the perfect compliments. LOVE!

Okay Cate Blanchett and Melissa Leo, I am not quite sure what you ladies were thinking...By far the worst and most ridiculous dresses of the night. Cate looked like a bedazzled alien dressed up for Easter Sunday and Melissa...I don't even know what to say. This dress looks like a concoction of the snowflakes we used to make back in elementary school cut out of folded sheets of paper and then slapped over some gold tin foil. Yikes!

And the award for biggest hottie on the Red Carpet...
Dear Mark Wahlberg,
I have pretty much been admiring your hot bod since back in the fifth grade when I used to tear pictures of you and your funky bunch out of BOP magazine. Great job staying just as sexy fifteen years later.
Love,
Kristin

All That Glitters

Happy Friday! I thought it only appropriate to do a post about sequins and glitter today since that is for sure what I will be wearing this weekend when I go to see Miss Lady Gaga in concert with my besties Meg and Davey! I really love the sequins and stripes combo going on in some of the photos below...and if I could ever pull off sequined pants, those would be my go-to. A glittery pair of Louboutins is quite the shoe investment, but helloooo fabulous!

Happy Weekend!

Rockin' the Roberto Cavalli

When my parents moved out of the house I grew up in this past summer and I had to pack up 25 years worth of yearbooks, art projects, school papers, etc.,  it was quite the trip down memory lane. Along with an awesome story I wrote at age 6 entitled "The Big Toe", some of the best treasures I uncovered were old scrapbooks full of pages and pages of fashion magazine clippings and inspiration. One of my favorite editorials to this day is this Roberto Cavalli spread photographed by Mario Testino that was featured in Elle magazine in 2002. (Which I really can't believe was almost 10 years ago)! I absolutely love everything about it from the gorgeous watercolor prints  and flowy dresses to the rugged cliffside setting and yes, even those sexy white/leopard print man pants.

A Bow Tie by KY

Bow ties were all over the runway this past week! Even though that was mostly on the ladies, seems like I was right on trend with my Valentine's Day gift for Nick! I absolutely love homemade gifts and giving gifts I know people will love. For vday I dusted the cobwebs off of my sewing machine, found some valentine's red and pink plaid fabric and put my rusty pattern making skills to work. Check out what I whipped up!

Some more bow tie fun for the pets, the ladies and even the cakes!
Even dogs can be fashionable...bow tie dog collar from Etsy

Super cute DIY bow tie necklace idea

I'm not even sure what is going on with this cake but I kind of love it!

Fashion Week

A little late on the fashion week recap, but since I spent most of the week (okay, month) getting this blog up and going, here we are. Fall fashion week this year was definitely interesting to say the least! From sequins and lady tuxedos to leopard print galore,  there was red, red and more red and and some serious Gaga inspired crazy.  Here are some of my favorites from the NY shows!

Jason Wu
Absolutely in love. The tuxedo look is insanely sexy and those gowns! Aaaahhhmazing.

Monique Lhuillier
Her entire line was absolutely gorgeous. Number one is summer wedding dress perfection.

Naeem Khan
This dude is a red carpet genius....I'm guessing we'll for sure see some of his gowns at the Oscar's next week!

Alice & Olivia
